Book Review: Anatomy of An Alibi
Anatomy of an Alibi by Ashley Elston is a shrewd, daring thriller about morality, secrets, and lies. Camille and Aubrey, two women from very different lives, are brought together through their connection to Ben Bayliss, a lawyer hiding a dangerous past. As they try to uncover the truth, deception quickly turns into mistrust, with everyone double-crossing everyone else.
Ben’s past catches up with him after a life-changing lie he has lived with for years, and when he is found dead in suspicious circumstances, the question becomes: who killed him?
None of the characters in this book are likeable, but they are fascinating because each has something to gain or lose. The standout is Hank, Ben’s business partner, whose decency contrasts with the corruption around him.
The back-and-forth narrative style gradually reveals each character’s history, allowing the reader to decide whether their actions are understandable or unforgivable. Anatomy of an Alibi is a page-turner exploring power, silence, and the corrupting influence of money.
