So, you have let your regular exercise routine lapse because, let’s face it, you were in the middle of a great holiday. The problem is that all the drinks, epic meals, and reduced activity mean your body is now assuming this is the new way of living!

What a shock to the system when you do come home from all that sun, sea and relaxation. If you are anything like us, as you put away your swimsuit, you are feeling equal parts motivation and dread for the effort that lies ahead to get back to your usual exercise routine.

Your cardiovascular endurance may not have decreased, nor your muscles weakened; however, you still need a psychological shift in thinking to return to normal.  We have decided to view this challenge as an opportunity to recommit to our well-being.

We wanted to share with you 5 points from our comeback strategy and what we will be wearing while we limber up and finally lace those shoes up.

1. We are going to be patient and set realistic goals. Instead of “exercise 6 times a week,” we are trying “exercise 3 times and get to bed early most of the week.”

2. Consistency is key.  We are going to begin with 70% of our usual intensity and increase gradually over time. So, the 5 miles we run each morning before the holiday is now 3 miles for the next few weeks until we catch up on ourselves!

3. Find a workout buddy – having people around us who expect to be motivated and are motivating will see you through those dark winter nights as well.  After week one, we intend to celebrate with said buddy.  Simply showing up is a win in our books.

Zero Gravity Running Bra, £60.00

4. We are using the “2-day rule,” which means never allowing yourself to go more than two days without some form of exercise.  This rule should prevent us from making a small rest break and turning it into the extended XXL version!

5. Get dressed in fashion that motivates us.  We found that the right workout outfit significantly affects the way we feel and perform so we have shared some of our new gear ideas. Good luck!
