6 High-Protein Breakfast Ideas

On our hike last weekend, nutrition frequently came up in conversation, specifically the importance of protein. We agreed that, despite leading active lifestyles, we are not consuming enough protein as part of our daily nutrition. Protein is essential for our bodies, as it maintains structure, promotes muscle growth, and facilitates repair. For optimal health and vitality, it is recommended that we consume at least 0.8 grams of protein per kilogram of body weight per day.

We thought, therefore, that starting the day with a high-protein breakfast is a great way to kick off a daily protein routine. Here are 6 of our favourite suggestions:

Poached Eggs

Protein content: 25 grams

Two poached eggs, with avocado, beans, and spinach. Add black pepper and chilli flakes.

Smoked Salmon

Protein content: 40 grams

Two scrambled eggs and smoked salmon, cucumber, and dill. Add chickpeas to boost protein content.

Peanut Butter

Protein content: 26 grams

Peanut butter and banana on toast. Adding Greek yoghurt to the peanut butter mix will boost protein content.

Overnight Oats

Protein content: 33 grams

Greek yoghurt, oats, protein powder, milk, seeds, apples. Top with almonds and berries. Put in the fridge overnight.

Blend Greek yoghurt, banana, avocado, chia seeds, protein powder, blueberries and dates topped with granola.
